St Mellion Golf Course
With its two spectacular championship golf courses, this famous West Country golf resort has hosted the Benson & Hedges International on six occasions, firmly securing St Mellion's position as the best venue for golf in Cornwall and as one of Europe's premier golf resorts.
Officially opened in July 1988, the Nicklaus golf course at St Mellion is widely regarded as one of the finest golf venues in all of Europe. Jack Nicklaus has designed plenty of golf courses; however St Mellion's Nicklaus Course in Cornwall was his first golf course that he designed in the UK. Jack's signature is all over this amazing course - high tees with great views of the fairways, water hazards and the ability to place the ball in the right position in order to score well. Once opened Nicklaus was amazed and gave the course his highest compliment:
"I knew it was going to be good, but not this good - it's everything I had hoped for and more... St Mellion is potentially the finest golf course in Europe".
The Old Course
The "Old Course" at St Mellion is a championship golf course in its own right. It was opened in 1976 and at 6,000 yards, has many holes which will test the very best golfer.
The Old Course is a delightful course with wonderful scenery, and extremely popular with both members and visitors of all handicaps a like.
