The small village of Praa Sands is situated roughly half way between Porthleven and Penzance. The main feature is the mile long sandy beach, backed by sand dunes and popular with families and surfers alike. The beach is perfect for small children who will be amused for hours on end playing in the streams and rockpools while the older children enjoy body boarding in the endless waves.
There are a couple of beach shops offering ice-creams, refreshments and take away food but if you fancy something more then there is The Sandbar, a lively pub/restaurant serving great food that sits just above the beach with fabulous sea views and a large outdoor terrace.
Surfboard and wetsuit hire is available on the beach should you wish to try surfing. The beach is lifeguarded daily between May and September.
