This Year’s Theme
Each year, the Porthleven Food & Drink Festival embodies a theme of significant local importance and this year the event’s organisers have decided to focus on the theme of Anti Plastic. Presently around 10% of the plastic used globally ends up in the oceans, which amounts to 700 billion plastic bottles every year.
The growing pollution caused by plastic is a major problem for the marine environment and local wildlife and to raise awareness of this vital issue, the Porthleven food & Drink Festival team have pledged to look at the plastic that is used during the event and minimise it wherever possible. This will apply to the event's own bars, as well as each of the suppliers and stallholders in attendance.
Porthleven is a beautiful seaside town with a strong maritime tradition and by working together we can make sure that this is something that does not change.
Above Beach Cottages is proud to once again support the Porthleven food & Drink Festival and its dedicated Anti Plastic message. We will be represented by our own stall and be on hand to speak to both holidaymakers and cottage owners during the event, so if you are thinking of booking a holiday cottage during 2018 or would like to enquire into the possibility of letting through us, why not drop by for a chat?
We will be supporting the 'Lime Kiln' stage this year, which will feature some fantastic local acts presented by 'BBC Introducing in Cornwall'. The Porthleven Food & Drink Festival is highly regarded for supporting live music throughout the day and night and the 'Shipyard Stage' will also play host to an inspired selection of acts to help promote a real party atmosphere. We're certainly looking forward to a fantastic time and we hope to see you there too!
