Grade II listed open air lido
One of Penzance's most famous attractions is Jubilee Pool, a unique and historic Grade II listed salt water lido situated on the promenade. Cleverly designed to cope with the Cornish sea, the pool is triangular in shape yet retains gentle curves, making it a most pleasant environment to relax in. The pool was reopened in 2016 after an expensive renovation following significant storm damage in 2014.
The pool has a large covered seating area where you can sit and enjoy your lunch whilst taking in the panoramic views of St Michael's Mount and across Mount's Bay. Having undergone a total refurbishment in 2017 Jubilee Pool Cafe is open daily and offers an array of delicious refreshments and fabulous food with all profits being reinvested for the future of the pool.
Thanks to a huge Crowdfunder campaign that raised a massive £500k a project to heat a section of the pool to 35 degrees using natural geothermal energy has been completed. This exciting new facility opened to the public in September 2020 and means for the first time ever the pool has heated water, transforming it into an all year round attraction. Tickets for the pool can be booked in advance through the Jubilee Pool website.
Only a stone's throw away from Jubilee Pool is the lovely Song of the Sea, a beautifully presented cottage sleeping five people that offers a small group discount for couples throughout the year.
