Set on the west coast of the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the little harbour town of Porthleven is the quintessential Cornish fishing port. Centred around the harbour, it boasts an array of cafés, restaurants and galleries and exudes a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK, with fishing boats operating out of the harbour. This makes the town a great spot to enjoy some delicious seafood, straight from the fishing boats to the restaurants, it couldn’t be fresher!
Porthleven beach can be accessed from the town itself and provides a long expanse of sand which is separated into segments by several rocky outcrops. While away the glorious summer days relaxing on the beach with a locally made ice cream in hand!
Situated part way along a huge sweeping bay, it faces the Atlantic Ocean and is often on the receiving end of some mighty winter storms! A fabulous destination for a winter break; marvel at the awe-inspiring waves pounding the harbour walls from the cosy safety of the local pub!
The surrounding area doesn’t disappoint either; located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the views from every cove or clifftop are picture-perfect. Travel north-west and you’ll reach Marazion, home of St Michael’s Mount – an absolute ‘must’. South takes you to the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Point, one of Cornwall’s most iconic spots.
You won’t tire of the walks and stunning scenery, but if you fancy a day out, try the Seal Sanctuary, Flambards or Trebah Gardens. Or, go a little further afield and you can explore Penzance, Land’s End and St Ives.

A fabulous conversion, definitely with the wow factor! The 6 adults and 2 youngsters loved the character and space, and we enjoyed Porthleven, with its beach, harbour and good restaurants, as well as the surrounding area including Great Expectations at the Minack. We loved it! Thank you!Hoyles family and friends, Lincs and London
We have stayed in many properties in Porthleven over the years and this is by far the most spacious. We were visiting for Flora Day in Helston and have had a lovely time. We think the property is lovely and well-equipped. Overall, a fantastic place and we would recommend it to others who needed a property of this size. The Horne Family, Reading, Berks and Ampthill, Beds.

Lovely spacious venue. The kitchen is superbly equipped with everything a large group with a child could need. Porthleven is a lovely place, good restaurants, friendly people. Lovely holiday!Stratton and Cunningham families, Herts.
Lovely week at The Old Sunday School - gorgeous place with lots of space and the weather has been amazing! Lovely lazy days and so many great places to eat and drink. Thank you! We'll definitely be back.Clare, Phil, Maisie, Tim & Co. London, Preston and Blackpool
We can recommend Kernow Coasteering (if you are fit and able!) for a great day/morning out and we enjoyed surfing with Dan Joel Surf School at Poldhu Cove. Minack Theatre (Tosca) was a highlight (take all weather gear!) and somehow we managed St. Ives (Tate Modern) & Penlee House Art Gallery and Museum, Penzance. We have spent a busy 7 days and go home rested from the humdrum of life! (Also, walked round the Lizard and enjoyed a late swim at Kynance Cove).Julian Bryan and family, Midlands
Had a fabulous week, 8 of us had plenty of space and the open plan living area has been so comfortable! Porthleven is a wonderful place with lots of great eateries, drinking holes and friendly people - we can't wait to come back!!! ***** (5 star). Praa Sands is a wonderful beach for body boarding and the kids had great fun crabbing and jumping in the harbour! The Leightons and friends, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts
