Set on the west coast of the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the little harbour town of Porthleven is the quintessential Cornish fishing port. Centred around the harbour, it boasts an array of cafés, restaurants and galleries and exudes a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK, with fishing boats operating out of the harbour. This makes the town a great spot to enjoy some delicious seafood, straight from the fishing boats to the restaurants, it couldn’t be fresher!
Porthleven beach can be accessed from the town itself and provides a long expanse of sand which is separated into segments by several rocky outcrops. While away the glorious summer days relaxing on the beach with a locally made ice cream in hand!
Situated part way along a huge sweeping bay, it faces the Atlantic Ocean and is often on the receiving end of some mighty winter storms! A fabulous destination for a winter break; marvel at the awe-inspiring waves pounding the harbour walls from the cosy safety of the local pub!
The surrounding area doesn’t disappoint either; located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the views from every cove or clifftop are picture-perfect. Travel north-west and you’ll reach Marazion, home of St Michael’s Mount – an absolute ‘must’. South takes you to the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Point, one of Cornwall’s most iconic spots.
You won’t tire of the walks and stunning scenery, but if you fancy a day out, try the Seal Sanctuary, Flambards or Trebah Gardens. Or, go a little further afield and you can explore Penzance, Land’s End and St Ives.
Excellent property & very helpful staff. Porthleven has amazing selection of places to eat and highly recommend Sea Drift Kitchen cafe and the Corner Deli.Miss Alison Reeves - 21st October 2018
Excellent location to Porthleven. Shame that the nicest room had only a 4'6" bed. The room at the back with the larger bed and ensuite did not have a very nice view. Mrs Pamela Hill - 23rd September 2018
This was a great house, really well supplied with good quality materials, and comfortable. Also in a great location. Super clean when we moved in, and the scones and flowers were a very welcoming touch.Mrs Angela Brosnan - 18th September 2018

Merlyn was our perfect holiday home, meeting all requirements for our large family. We have been coming to Porthleven for ten years now, sometimes visiting twice a year....we have stayed in many lovely holiday homes but Merlyn fits our family the best! We hope to keep returning here for our future visits. Mrs M Bonas - 8th April 2018
