Making great holidays happen in Cornwall

Seadrift Kitchen Cafe

It Just Doesn't Get Better Than This

Asking me to choose my favourite chef in Porthleven or my favourite restaurant is a bit like asking me to choose my favourite child.  Chris and Carla arrived in the village after cutting their teeth running pubs and bought a cafe so they could live over the shop and live the dream.  The usual tired decor was replaced with a top quality fit out in a slightly radical style.  Now Chris cooks local produce and always has a great fish specials board with every single dish cooked with care and flair, Carla is front of house ensuring the quality of service matches the food.

What's perhaps most impressive is their absolute refusal to compromise in any way to capitalise on their success- it's a small room that is booked out more often than not but they have steadfastly resisted the temptation to increase the number of covers and they are closed on Sunday and Monday nights regardless of bank holidays or festivals that would surely see the place packed.  Every plate of food is cooked and dressed by Chris- if he is away then the restaurant is closed.

I don't think I've ever had a single forkfull of food in Seadrift that wasn't great from the homemade bread to parma ham wrapped delicate fish or steaks full of flavour.  Heartily recommended but you'd better think about booking before your holiday if you want to be sure of the opportunity to eat here.
