Find A Cottage
You are here:
St Just is just about the furthest West proper town in Cornwall just before you get to Cape Cornwall on the road from Penzance. It has a square with a Co-op supermarket and a range of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. There's a bit of an alternative feel here and you can find yourself in a pub on open mike night listening to local artists playing violins or even reciting poetry. The bakerys here are competing to produce the best produce including scones and heavy cake and it's a tough job to sample a range and pass judgment.
If you get the chance to stay in St Just you'll find all of West Cornwall within easy reach so you can pick your beach according to the wind direction or the surf reports and head off for a great day out. The road from here to St Ives was named as one of the best drives in the country undertaken by Richard Wilson for a TV series and the surrounding countryside and shoreline is full of variation from bleak moorland scattered with abandoned engine houses to warm and welcoming beaches with craggy headlands and stunning views.
