St Michaels Mount- 8 miles

Spectacular castle and monastery on a rocky island separated from the mainland by a causeway. 

You can walk across at low tide or take a short boat trip at other times. 

There are some shops and cafes on the island and it's a steep walk up to tour the buildings but well worth it.
