Even if you've never been to Cornwall you've almost certainly seen Porthleven on the news. Whenever the country is battered by gales the image of waves crashing around the foot of the famous clocktower is on the news around the country. The town is at the base of The Lizard Peninsula before Praa Sands and is becoming one of the most popular destinations in the county with a lively mix of shops and cafes to choose from. it's foodies however who are best served as every restaurant seems to have an enthusiastic chef living the dream and producing great food from local ingredients.
My sons have spent lots of time here for years playing in the rock pools and running along the beach before badgering me for an ice cream to be enjoyed sitting on the harbour wall. The pasties from Horse and Jockey are considered by many to be the best available and two fish and chip shops compete on quality to help you enjoy everyone's favourite supper.
