You are here:
Nearly at the tip of the Lizard Peninsula lies Lizard village. A short stroll takes you down to the lighthouse at Lizard point with its spectacular views. The Lizard name comes from the Cornish "lis" (high) and "ard" (place) and the visitor is certainly well-positioned to admire the rugged scenery from the clifftops. The local rock is called Serpentine and it is still possible to see Serpentine being turned and even buy a gift made from it locally.
Lizard village is an ideal base from which to explore the many villages and coves located on the Lizard Peninsula. The village itself has a pub, restaurant, coffee shop, fish and chip shop, and a few shops to buy provisions. Make sure you try one of Ann's famous pasties - you can even order them online to enjoy at home. Only a short walk away is the Housel Bay hotel - open for meals and drinks to non-residents - an ideal spot to enjoy a drink and watch the sun go down. Sea Breezes is the perfect place to stay to enjoy the natural beauty of the Lizard Peninsula. What could be better than a swim in a cove followed by fish and chips and a pint in the pub before a good night's sleep.
Fantastic seaview cottage overlooking the sea on both sides of the Lizard Peninsula (sleeps 6).
