What's Porthleven Like?
The historic harbour of Porthleven really does offer the visitor everything - a magnificent stretch of beach complete with rock pools, the harbour with its fishing and boats, the fabulous restaurants and cafes, traditional Cornish pubs and hospitality and, of course, the coastal path right on your doorstep giving access to some of the most spectacular walking in the country.
In Porthleven you can spend your time browsing the galleries, craft shops, gift shops & jewellers, in fact you need not go out of the village for anything. There is live music in the pubs and on the harbourside, and events throughout the summer such as gig racing, lifeboat day and traditional Cornish festivals.
Porthleven remains unspoilt and is still a thriving local community rather than a holiday resort. Virtually all of the shops & restaurants are open all year round and all West Cornwall's towns and attractions are a short drive away.
In recent years Porthleven has become something of a 'Foodie' centre with a number of really good restaurants opening or reopening with ultra enthusiastic owners using fresh local produce. There's an excellent Deli to complement the long established fresh fish shop and the village hosts an annual food festival in the Spring attracting thousands of enthusiasts.
