About the South CoastBelow Decks taken from across the water

For ease of description we say that any of our properties not in Sennen, Mousehole, Marazion and Porthleven are located on the South Coast.   This means that South Coast properties extend from east of Porthleven to Mevagissey and includes property on the Lizard Peninsula, Falmouth and Portmellon.

Information about The Lizard can be viewed here.

Falmouth is a working port and harbour and home to the National Maritime MuseumPendennis Castle stands atop the end of the peninsula, next to the fabulous Ships and Castles Leisure Pool, a very popular destination for children.  A promenade extends along the sea front with a sandy beach and cafe in front of the Princess Pavilion. The town itself has a lively high street filled with shops, cafes and restaurants.  The area next to the Maritime Museum has been extensively developed and contains a range of galleries, shops and restaurants, including Rick's Fish and Chips.  There's plenty to see - why not a sample a cornish pasty or ice cream as you explore.

Why visit Falmouth?

  • Beautiful clean beaches
  • Amazing pubs and restaurants
  • Wide range of shops and galleries
  • Leisure facilities including swimming pool, cinema, theatre, sports facilities, sailing, etc.
  • Places to visit like Pendennis Castle, National Maritime Museum, etc.
  • Boat trips and fishing.

About PortmellonPortmellon from Four Winds Garden (600x448)

Portmellon lies west of Mevagissey, about 6 miles from St. Austell and has a small sandy cove.  There is a pub next to the beach.  Portmellon is Mevagissey's quieter sister, but all the action is only a 10 minute walk away.

Why visit Mevagissey?

  • Picturesque village and fishing port.
  • Shops, restaurants and pubs.
  • Plenty of walks along the coastal path and beaches to explore.
